This year, PCI is excited to be celebrating 50 years of positive community impact. Our hope is, of course, to celebrate another 50 but this longevity has always been founded in helping meet the needs at hand.
That need may be in a medical clinic that is equipped to treat someone who has a desperate case of malaria. It may be in the one meal that a child gets today because they came to school and are being fed breakfast. Perhaps the need of the day is racing to aid a community devastated by a hurricane or earthquake.
This is exactly what our Founder, Dr. James Turpin, was referring to when he said, “We have no big objectives, only little ones.” We have the privilege of meeting each face and letting them know they are of major importance.
Basic charity has never been our model. Handouts are not what PCI does. The purpose of each of PCI’s projects is to help people get to a place where they can, in fact, help themselves.
