On July 17, 2011, PCI was announced as one of 77 finalists out of 600 submissions for the Saving Lives at Birth Grand Challenge for our BRITE (Better Results through Integrated Technology & Empowerment) program in India, which seeks to improve the health outcomes of pregnant women and their newborns through mobile technology.
USAID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Government of Norway, Grand Challenges Canada, and the World Bank have joined to launch Saving Lives at Birth: A Grand Challenge for Development. The initiative is calling on the brightest minds across the globe to identify and scale up transformative prevention and treatment approaches for pregnant women and newborns in rural, low-resource settings around the time of birth.
