PCI works at the national, state and district levels to eliminate various NTDs from India using its core expertise of community mobilization and Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC).
Lymphatic Filariasis (LF)
PCI is working with Government of India and other stakeholders and has presence in 150 endemic districts across 8 states to eliminate the disease from the country. An agreement between PCI and Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha is also underway to provide technical support the state government in the elimination goal for vector borne diseases, support social mobilization component under the vector borne disease program and facilitate innovations based on global learnings to strengthen the state program.
PCI has implemented a community engagement program through identifying, capacitating and leveraging Community Based Resource Persons (CBRPs) for early diagnosis and treatment of Kala-azar in about 200 select villages spread over seven endemic districts in – Bihar and Jharkhand.
