I’m Nikki and am the proud mother of two girls 9 and 15 years old, a Licensed Midwife, Doula Monitrice and Perinatal educator.
Birth work found me when a friend asked if I was willing to be her doula in 2003. After serving several families in the Bay Area, I got pregnant with my first child in 2004. We relocated to be closer to family in San Diego that next year and were warmly welcomed into the birth community in San Diego. My passion for providing caring, nurturing postpartum support grew with the birth of my second daughter, here in San Diego.
Facilitating the “Maiden to Mother” new mother support group at Nature’s Whisper School of Yoga and monthly Newborn Care classes at The Birth Education Center of San Diego allowed my skills and experience to develop. This included a postpartum discussion group as well as Getting Ready for Baby and Breastfeeding classes through Scripps Perinatal Education. I offer the Practically Postpartum in home class which provides customized, in-home Childbirth Education and Newborn Care classes. I also provide reproductive health care such as Pap tests, STI and pregnancy testing, IUI and IVI services.
Sabia Wade is a full spectrum doula, reproductive justice activist. Her experience began in 2015 as a volunteer doula with The Prison Birth Project, where she served incarcerated and formerly incarcerated parents, as well as parents on drug maintenance medications. She began For the Village after moving to San Diego in 2017 and realizing the need for affordable doula care and socially conscious education in the San Diego area.
We are dedicated to helping rehabilitate and rejuvenate the lives of those from disenfranchised communities by providing affordable outpatient counseling services.
