THE WATER CRISIS

  • 1 in 10 people around the world lacks access to safe water. That’s over 700 million women and children.
  • The burden of collecting water falls to women and girls. In Africa alone, women spend 40 billion hours a year walking for water. Those are hours that could be spent at school or work.
  • More than 800,000 children die from water-related diseases each year.
  • By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity.
  • Communities in the U.S. are being classified as water-stressed, including San Diego.

HERE ARE 3 SIMPLE STEPS:

  1. Register for Walk for Water.
  2. Form a team – with your school, work, friends and family members.
